Maybe I Should’ve Stayed in The Navy

October 24, 2021, well not to the date, but it was the first time I came to Houston. That was the day I decided I would get out the Navy after 6 years of service. To be honest, the Navy wasn't all that bad, I was just done with the politics of the system. I was a Gunner’s Mate and I loved it. But when I came to Houston I heard about being a UI/UX Designer and I fell in love with the idea. As soon as I got back to Virginia I dove in. Started my learning journey.

From reading to doing my own designing and of course, YouTube University. It was a massive amount of information in such a short time. I was somewhat overwhelmed with everything that I was seeing. Learning a new skill was a HUGE challenge. I’m not illiterate when it comes to computers by any means. However, being on this side of the spectrum was a whole new world to me and I love every bit of it. At times I’ve gotten to the point of the title of this post. Did I make the right decision? Transistioning back to civilian life can be difficult when all you've known for over half a decade is early mornings, late nights, being away from family, and consistent pay. But this month since I’ve been out the Navy has had its ups and downs. But I’m up for the challenge. I WAS BUILT FOR THIS!!!
